Gothic Stays

We love a good pair of stays…I used synthetic whalebone in this lovely creature for @misscaseycatastrophe for a vampire ball ! She wanted the closure in the front to make it easier to take off, and I kinda love the look of it! Front closing busks weren’t patented until the 1800s, so these lovely 1780s stays would probably have laced down the front as well as the back. Still, we are in the 21st century, and when you’re coming home from an event and just wanna get your dang costume off, a front closing busk is a GODSEND.
